This engine is a aluminum 90degree V6 motor using single overhead cams. It came with 200hp rating in the first version and a later version only offered in 93-95 Acura Legend coupes and 94-95 sedans came with a type 2 variant that put out 230hp due to better tuning, cam profile, intake manifold design, larger exhaust, and 1mm larger intake valves coupled with stiffer springs for higher revs. The engines are known to hold around 400hp in stock form. The rods are forged and the crank is bulletproof. There is known issues with these motors in regards to blowing headgaskets due to overheating cause by low coolant levels, trapped air bubbles, and vibration of the cylinder linings. The later C35a engine took care of these problems and was equipped with a balance shaft as well as a different oil pump/cooler design but was detuned from the type 2 for torque and add realiability only coupled with automatic transmissions.
